On the 1st of February, we are winging our way to the Dschang region of Cameroon to join Taste Cameroon’s “Food for Prosperity Project”.

This scheme is a registered social enterprise and the aim is to promote social and economic development in Cameroon by helping to facilitate new opportunities for sustainable livelihoods, increasing and sharing skills and knowledge, supporting and assisting children and women, and encouraging meaningful exchanges to find solutions to contemporary issues.

A handpicked team of Welsh Artisan Producers and passionate foodies are going to share our passion for food. The Preservation Society will be sharing our love and passion for preserving, alongside Carol from Food Adventures who is heading the project, the Food & Farming Award winners Charcutier with their skills in butchery & charcuterie, Mark Underwood from CJS Electrical will be bringing his knowledge of all things building and electrical and looking at sustainable off grid solutions, along with the local rugby team and the eclectic team from Glamorgan Smallholders. On this trip Maurice will be joining us, a lifelong Farmer from the Vale – this is his first trip out of the Uk and his first flight ever!

We’ve been formerly invited by the Mayor of the Region and look forward to working in partnership with their team and bringing back the flavours of Cameroon!

More trips are planned and a meeting has been arranged with the Welsh Government on our return, this is going to be the first of many trips!

Here’s a link to the project http://www.tastecameroon.com and we look forward to sharing our adventures with you while we’re away.
